Professionally Applied Dental Veneers & Bonding
Bonding
Also known as bonded restoration — bonding is a painless treatment for tiny tooth repairs. It usually involves using composite resin to repair a specific section of a tooth. This is a tooth-colored material that is carefully applied to the part of the tooth that needs repair and then shaped and hardened.
The composite resin matches the aesthetics of your other teeth and the rest of the treated tooth completely — successfully filling the missing parts of a chipped tooth, for instance.
At the beginning of the bonding process, your dentist will choose the appropriate composite resin color using a shade guide — matching your natural teeth color as closely as possible.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells, applied to the front surface of a treated tooth. Unlike with bonding, they do not cover the entire tooth — and they’re sometimes made from porcelain (as well as composite resin). The porcelain veneers are sturdier compared to composite resin ones, and they’re less likely to experience discoloration or stains over time.
However, veneers do not apply to every dental situation — decaying teeth or those suffering from gum disease require additional treatment first. Also, someone who grinds and clenches their teeth while sleeping might accidentally shatter a porcelain veneer.
