Invisalign® — The Most Comfortable Type Of Clear Braces!

For years, metal braces were the only viable option for straightening teeth. While their effectiveness is undisputable — metal braces are sometimes uncomfortable and impractical. However, contemporary orthodontic technology has come up with a more comfortable and practical alternative: Invisalign®

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a type of braces that function as clear tray aligners. The brand has its own proprietary type of plastic, manufactured on an individual basis for the specific mold of your mouth.

These braces come in a single solid plastic piece, strong enough to provide adequate pressure on parts of your jaw where teeth need to be straightened into a more natural position. Of course, Invisalign treatment requires a dentist consultation first.

Invisalign Treatment

Before starting with Invisalign, your dentist evaluates your general oral health, your smile, and finally takes an impression of your mouth. On the basis of that, Invisalign manufactures a specific aligned, custom-fitted to the lines of your mouth.

Throughout the Invisalign process, your dentist will be in charge of your specific treatment plan. Generally, the aligner trays need to be replaced every couple of weeks on average — with each new tray moving and shifting your teeth progressively.

Results are visible if you wear Invisalign braces for a majority of the day — between 20 and 22 hours. However, unlike metal braces, you can remove them when you want to floss, brush, or eat.

Also, Invisalign trays shouldn’t be mistaken for retainers — they’re definitely braces, even though they’re made from plastic. Retainers just serve to hold teeth in one place, while braces actively move them into the proper position.
